GiGi
It was December 16th 2015....
I was driving to work and got a phone call to tell me that a gorgeous TB was standing in a pen at our local auction and no one could get near her to attempt to identify her ( this is done by lifting their upper lip to read a tattoo). We knew what that meant....an almost certain purchase by someone who would ship her to Mexico for meat.
Immediate U turn. Luckily I had my barn coveralls in the car. Put them on over my dress clothes and climbed the pens amongst the screams of many animals to find a huge and yes gorgeous Thoroughbred standing there scared out of her mind. Tag #3640
She was terrified and although she would not let me touch her, she pleaded with her eyes ‘please get me out of here!!!’
We outbid the meat man and brought her home that afternoon.
Once she calmed down we identified her and found the man who had raised her. He was in tears on the phone as we spoke. He told me she had been injured in training and he gave her to someone who had worked at the race stables. And then lost touch with this person about 4 years ago and had wondered where GiGi was....
Her ability to trust humans had sadly been broken - but she learned quickly we meant her no harm.
She has come a long way since then.
Here she is 4 years down the road....sweet as can be, enjoying her days. Relaxed and loving scratches and attention.
We promised her a forever home, and can not do this without the help of your donations.
