Righter
This is our sweet boy Righter, just had his first vet visit since his arrival to us after he was dumped at an auction with a bad front leg injury and the new is not great. (a ruptured suspensory ligament) He's in a lot of pain, but does not want to give up, so we will not either. He needs pain medication and ulcer meds, also will need a set of "Cloud boots" and a brace for his leg. He's still in Quarantine. Total funds needed to help Righter is $1000 to start. This will be a long hard journey for Righter and Jen. Please join TEAM RIGHTER with even a small donation. $10, $20, $50, $100. South Texas Equine Sanctuary operates on donations. Righter was not a planned save but we couldn’t turn our back on him and watch him go to slaughter. We are a Registered 501c3 non profit. All donations are tax deductible. Our lovely lady Summer (AKA lucky)
She was also an unexpected rescue at the beginning of July. She was saved from the slaughter pipeline along with her friend July. She was a last minute, literally and our donors and volunteers were wonderful. Summer came to us very under weight and matted our volunteers worked for hours combing her mane, and with good food and a safe pen she's doing very well. Shortly after her arrival we knew her name "lucky" was not a good fit so it was changed to summer, she likes this one much better. She's still in quarantine.

Dolly
Rescued from the slaughter pipeline with her friends June, and Johnny. This sweet senior has made her last long ride, and will live out her days her at the ranch. As will many of our senior's she arrived, Sep 4, in need of a lot of attention, care, and a safe place. Daisy has a bad wound on her leg, that we are watching closely with daily wound care. She appears to have limited vision on her right side, with an eye infection that she will receive treatment for. She like the others has a very bad case of diarrhea and is risk of dehydration that we are monitoring very closely.

Johnny
Such a sweet old man, estimated to be well in his 30's just arriving to us with the help of many great people. Johnny is a wonderful addition to our seniors group. He looks to have been a barrel racer or ?? will stand still, and trusts us to trim his hoofs, that are badly neglected. He has very poor teeth, with many of his bottom molars missing, so needs a very special diet that were are well aware of and will give him. He started today with a little soaked mash ad we will increase as the days go on. One day at a time sweet boy. He will never go hungry again. He just arrived to us a few days ago, saved from the pipeline. He came with 2 others Dolly, and his best friend June. All 3 are in quarantine together at this time, and are being watched around the clock. Johnny has a very bad case of diarrhea, malnutrition and dehydration. He is getting lots of attention and monitoring here, until he improves. June does not leave his side, and protects him and makes sure he's ok after we are in the pen.

June
Arrived just a few days ago, needing hydration and food. She comes with 2 others Johnny and Dolly. She also has diarrhea, is malnourished, a swollen keen, a folded ear and as that is not enough, has an infected wound on her hip, that is being cleaned and treated daily. She truly is a sweet senior and watches out for her stall mate Johnny. Even through she is tiered and hurt herself she makes sure Johnny is ok. She's a very wise mare, probably someone's dear old ranch horse, she has a soft landing here and a forever loving home.

Suds
What can we say about Suds, he is just an amazing horse, full of love to please and very trusting. He is the ranches newest painter. He continues to need hoof work, and education with regards to his training, but he really enjoys helping out. He has found a new/old friend out in the yard "Hollywood" and the boys get into trouble every chance they get.
